Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum - Reception Class
Early Years is arguably the most important part of a child's education. Through following the areas of the curriculum we aim to enable children to develop the building blocks which will aid them throughout their entire education.
The vast majority of learning takes place through play. A variety of activities will be organised for the children in order to spark their interest in learning.
Although at our school we have mixed-age classes, the pupils in the Early Years have continuous provision; that is they are always surrounded by their learning and have access to it throughout the day.
In the Early Years Foundation Stage we look at three Prime areas and four Specific areas of learning and development.
Prime Areas
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Physical Development
Communication and Language
Specific Areas
Literacy
Mathematics
Understanding the World
Expressive Arts and Design
